Berkshire Maestros Job Opportunities Berkshire Music Hub
Hungerford Music Centre

Hungerford Music Centre is Berkshire Maestros newest music centre, opened in February 2017. This fledgling centre has been created to enable children in the far west of the county to benefit from musical opportunities local to them. Currently providing instrumental lessons and opportunities for group music making in ensembles, this music centre is set to grow in the coming months.

The centre delivers high quality music education, providing young people with a safe and friendly environment to learn and make new friends.

Hungerford Music Centre is based in the music department at John O’Gaunt School. Please enter the school site on Priory Road; enter through the ‘student entrance’ to the left of the building, walk straight through a set of automatic doors, across a short courtyard and the music department is directly in front.

At Hungerford Music Centre we provide lessons in a wide range of instruments and styles to suit all (subject to the availability of our teachers).

Lessons are fun and interactive and provide children with the skills and knowledge to become excellent musicians. Sessions are tailored to individual needs and can build up to music examinations or simply focus on the enjoyment of playing. It might also be possible to hire an instrument from us if you are interested in lessons but don't own an instrument (subject to availability and our usual terms and conditions of instrument hire).

Find out more about the range of lessons we offer.

Greenham Trust is offering financial support for children attending West Berkshire Primary Schools taking music lessons with Berkshire Maestros. Through the Greenham Trust Music Bursary Fund a £50 subsidy each term is available on any group or individual lesson.

To qualify you child must be at a West Berkshire Primary School, not in receipt of pupil premium and not yet having an instrumental or vocal lesson through Berkshire Maestros.

Funding for the academic year 2018-19 will be open for applications after the summer holidays. Please download the application form. The form must be completed by your child’s head teacher.

As well as lessons, Hungerford Music Centre provides an opportunity for young musicians to join two debut ensembles.

Ensembles provide a perfect opportunity for young musicians to enjoy playing as part of a team, improving and enhancing many areas of their learning. Their knowledge of repertoire will be extended and they will learn more about techniques and musicality.

Ensembles also enable young musicians to come together to share a joint passion and create new lasting friendships.

Currently we have on offer a Junior Wind Band and a Guitar Band but we plan to introduce more groups in the future as the music centre grows.
