Two exciting full-time opportunities to work with one of the country’s leading music services within the Resources Department of Berkshire Maestros in Reading: 

  • IT Support Assistant (ref:  BM0801) Maestros Scale Point: 18 to 25, £17382 to £21796 pa. aae
  • Facilities Assistant (ref:  BM0802) Maestros Scale Point: 4 to 17, £12521 to 17296 pa. aae

Gap Year Employment – 2010/2011 Academic Year

If you are a senior pupil who is planning to take a gap year, you may be interested to learn that Berkshire Maestros offers job opportunities to gap year students. This year, we have one remaining full-time vacancy within our busy finance,administration and music centre offices at Stoneham Court, Tilehurst, Reading. 

Duties will include maintaining computerised records, dealing with correspondence, answering telephone calls and assisting with the recovery of outstanding charges as well as assisting the Marketing and County Activities and Music Centre departments dealing with the administration associated with publicizing, promoting and organizing our varied county wide activities.

No previous experience is required although all candidates must be computer literate and able to demonstrate a mature approach with good communication skills, both written and oral. The successful candidate will commence work from September 2010 and will be expected to commit through until Friday 29 July 2011. The post is hourly paid at the current rate of £4.83 per hour (proposed £4.92 wef Oct 2010 ages 18 – 21 inclusive). The leave entitlement will be pro rata based upon 28 days per annum (including bank holidays).

  • An experienced , enthusiastic and inspirational full-time classical guitar teacher is required to join the forward looking guitar team at Berkshire Maestros. The applicant should have experience of group and individual teaching from beginner to grade 8+, directing/coaching ensembles, a willingness to be involved in all parts of the guitar department and Maestros' life, including being involved in student concerts and courses. Experience of widening opportunities projects would be an advantage.

 

 Part-time teaching may also be available for the experienced, dedicated individual, with Maestros pay scale mirroring Teachers' Pay & Conditions.

This post can either be on a full or part-time basis and is intended to be a six-month voluntary training position.  It would suit an individual who is seeking a career in arts marketing and is keen to gain relevant work experience, either during a gap or sandwich year or having recently graduated.
