BBC Singers day

On Friday 21st November, members of Berkshire Youth Choir (BYC) and Senior Girls Choir (SGC) spent the day at the BBC Maida Vale studios, where they took part in a workshop with the BBC Singers.  Click on 'read the complete article' for more details, quotes and photos.

BYC and SGC were first treated to a performance by the BBC Singers, Britain's only full-time professional choir.  They then spent the day working on their own and new repertoire, led by Peter Asprey (Maestros teacher) and Neil MacKenzie, a member of the BBC Singers.  It was a wonderful opportunity to do some last-minute fine tuning of the repertoire for the Wokingham concert the following day, as well as developing sight-reading skills with new repertoire.

Here is what some of the participants had to say about the event:

Their advice was very enlightening
It was fun - really enjoyed it
The Singers had one beefy bass!
Would love to do it again

Learnt a lot about how pieces can be interpreted differently
They were all really friendly and made me feel good about myself
The BBC Singers were very good
The BBC were loud

Learnt a lot
They have inspired me a lot
Gave good advice on how to improve which was really helpful

Brilliant!
Awesome!
I learnt lots today
Why don't our tenors sound like that?!
