Guitar Composition Competition
Berkshire Maestros' Guitar Composition Competition 2010
Berkshire Maestros is running a competition to find a budding young composer who is in year thirteen or below. The composition needs to be written for 4 to 6 guitar parts; it could be a piece that you also use for your GCSE or A-Level course work or it could be a brand new work written especially for this competition.
The competition will be adjudicated by Gary Ryan, a guitarist, composer and professor at the Royal College of Music, London. He has written numerous compositions for the guitar, including virtuosic concert repertoire through to student pieces that are used for examinations.
Entry into the competition costs just £10 and the winner will have their composition premiered by Berkshire Youth Guitar Orchestra at a large event during 2010. The composer will work closely with the orchestra to interpret the piece as originally conceived. It may also be possible for the composer to conduct the performance of the work too. Closing Date is March 4th 2010. Look in more information to download an application form and to read the full details of the competition.
